Normal People

What is a “normal” person?

We don’t need to get into the laws of statistical distribution, let’s say “normal” means where the majority of people are either side of the middle.

What do UK parties do for normal people?

Unfortunately, the UK political parties do not listen to or represent normal people.

The majority of party MPs are graduates (85%). The majority of voters are not.

The average (normal) wage in the UK is £34,963 (Statista) and 50% are paid less than that.

Party MPs earn at least £91,463 a year which means they are in the top 5% of income earners – so they do not lead a “normal” life.

This explains why the majority of MPs do not agree with or listen to the majority of voters on many big questions for example: migration, gender, education, crime and punishment, speed cameras.

My opinion on these issues is not relevant, because I will be a Direct Democracy MP.

That means that I will take my orders directly from the majority of voters – which means Normal people will finally be listened to.

Are Normal people qualified to make decisions and choose policies?

Nobody wants a normal person to do their open heart surgery or fly the aeroplane that takes them on holiday.  For that we want real experts.

But for the majority of really big issues in our normal everyday life, to do with communities, transport, health, education, policing etc and even big things like defence and foreign policy, the subjects are so complex that not even the experts can agree on the right things to do.

In these subjects the “Wisdom of Crowds” which is the average view of a large group (where the majority are normal people) often makes better choices than experts.

Shall we call that Direct Democracy?

My message to Normal people is this.

All the political parties are made up of not normal people.

Many of whom have never had a real job before going into politics and none of who know what it’s like to try and live a normal life on normal pay.

Despite my messing about, I am a normal person, on normal pay, who worked in a factory as an engineer, then I ran a shop and now I run a pub.

I know what normal life is like, and I will make sure normal voices are heard.

I will use cheap, easy to install and secure technology to give direct influence to normal voters so that they tell me what to do.

I will not ignore them and follow party policy.

For the first time your views on the big questions will be spoken and followed.

Remember – none of the parties offer you that.
